From the Plastic Factory to "Job Optional":

My Journey

Jenae Nicole

I still remember the stifling heat and the noxious fumes of the acrylic purges. In 2001, while furiously assembling baby car seats on a production line in Ohio, I realized I was breathing in a future I didn't want. I was 25, exhausted, and daydreaming about a "lifestyle freedom" that felt worlds away from the mindless monotony of the factory floor.

I knew I wanted out, but I didn't have a map. So, I started building one.

My path wasn't a straight line—it was a decade of "doing the work" to find what stuck

  • The Escape: I traded the production line for the open road as a long-distance truck driver, eventually moving to Florida in 2005.

  • The Hustle: I spent years balancing a city job with life as a licensed massage therapist and hair stylist assistant, building my first business, Kingdom Massage, on the side.

  • The Discovery: In 2010, I started my first blog. By 2013, I discovered the power of content marketing and realized that a website wasn’t just a URL—it was an engine for freedom.

The Turning Point

IIn 2015, I launched the Job Optional Podcast. I was sharing my journey of building a life that didn’t require a 9-to-5, but by 2016, I hit a wall. Burnout is a real part of the process, and it taught me that "working hard" isn't enough—you have to work strategically.

I spent the next few years refining the "Job Optional" philosophy. I moved from just "posting on social media" to mastering long-form video, vlogging, and community-driven commerce.

Why I’m Here Now

In May 2024, I officially established Jobtional LLC. Today, I use everything I’ve learned—from the grit of the factory to the strategy of YouTube—to help women like you build businesses that replace their day jobs.

I’m not just a content creator; I’m a guide for the woman who is currently where I was in 2001: ready for a destination that offers more than just a paycheck. Whether it's through video podcasting, digital strategy, or our community, my goal is to help you build a brand that makes your job... optional.
